A stimulation study on characteristics in a steady-state for Michaelis-Menten elimination kinetics

Abstract

Using the pharmacokinetic parameters of phenytoin reported in literature, we have studied the characteristics in a steady-state for Michaelis-Menten elimination kinetics following multiple does of a drug in 128 hypothetical casas through computer simulation. We verified the formulas about average plasma concentration at the steady-state, the time to reach steady-state, and bioavailability proposed in previous article. We obtained the empirical formulas to estimate average plasma concentration or maximal plasma concentration in a steady-state from minimal plasma steady-state concentration for the phenytoin.
