Ke-Qin Wang, Gang Yu, Wen-Zhen Gao, Wei Li

Abstract

Hematoporphyrin derivatives are photosensitizers for diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Its absorption and distribution were studied in mice bearing sarcoma 180. Hematoporphyrin derivative (HPD) was directly determined for various visceral organs in acid medium with fluorescence method at excitation 405 nm, emission 598 nm. After iv HPD l0 mg/kg to the mice, the drug was rapidly taken up by various organs and reached the peak in a minute, but in tumor the peak reached in an hour. Three hours after the injection, the order of HPD distribution in organs was as follows: liver>tumor≥kidney>lung>skin>stomach≌muscle.
