Abstract

Plasmodium berghei ANKA strain-mouse system was established as screening model for blood schizontocides. 5 inbred mice(C57BL,615, ICR/JCL,SMMC/B,SMMC/C) and Kunming mice were used as the experimental hosts, all of them were susceptible to the ip inoculation of 1*10(7) RBC infected with P,berghei ANKA strain. Using the “4-day suppressive test” of blood schizontocidal action, the ED50 of antimalarials such as chloroquine, mefloquine, primaquine, pyrimethamine and hydroxypiperaquine were 2.58,3.58,2.76,0.20 and 2.12 (mg/kg/d* 4 d) repectively, which were consistent with those reported previously. These results suggest that P,berghei ANKA stain is sensitive to the above-mentioned antimalarials as a model for the screening of antimalarials.
