Influence of intracaudate injection of muscimol on the conditioning performance and EEG in rabbits
Abstract
After bilateral injection of a GABA-agonist muscimol (0.5 microg/ 5 microL on each side) into the heads of caudate nuclei, an inhibiton of alimentary motor conditioning was seen in 13 rabbits without obvious deficiencies in general motor activity.During the inhibition of conditioning, the EEG showed a pattern of slow waves with high voltage. If the rabbits were aroused by a tone( 1000 c/s, 100 Db) the EEG showed a pattern of fast wave with low voltage, yet the conditioning stimulus(light) did not elicit conditioned response.
