Effect of fentanyl on midbrain units and its antagonism by naloxone in rabbits
Abstract
In the 92 units, 24 units (26%) showed excitatory effects; 33 (36%) inhibitory; 13 (14%) inhibitory-excitatory and 22 (24%) no effect. Naloxone showed a reversal effect on both fentanyl-excitation and fentanyl-inhibition, but the time course of naloxone—reversal for excitatory effect was much shorter than that for inhibitory effect.
