Sodium ferulate is an inhibitor of thromboxane A2 synthetase

Zhong Wang, You-He Gao, Ru-Song Huang, Guo-Qiang Zhu

Abstract

Arachidonic acid (AA) and prostaglandin endoperoxide both reacted with pig lung microsomes. The productions of thromboxane B2 and 6-keto PGFl0 were determined by radioimmunoassay for observing the effects of sodium ferulate on the activities of prostaglandin synthase, thromboxane A2 synthetase and prostacyclin synthetase in AA metabolism. The results suggest that sodium ferulate is a selective inhibitor of thromboxane A2 synthetase.
