Autoradiographic visualization of the retention of 169Yb-citrate in bone and its removal by drugs

Abstract

There was a selective deposition and a high accumulation of 169Yb-citrate in skeleton. 169Yb-citrate deposited mainly on the endosteum and periosteum. The uptake was most likely to be a surface retention.
Both diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA) and bis-(2-carboxy-5-N-dicarboxymethylaminomethyl-6,7—di-hydroxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinolinyl-8)-5,8-dimethyl-6,7-dihydroxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline-3-carboxylic acid (quinamic acid) therapy removed large amounts of 169Yb-citrate from the kidneys by lowering the resorption of the complex by renal canaliculi.
