abstract = {In 9 anesthetized mongrel dogs LVP, LVEDP, dP/dt of LVP, CO, ECG, AP, HR and renal blood flow were recorded on a RM 6000 8-channel Polygraph. The ginsenosides, total saponins extracted from , iv 25 mg/kg caused a significant decrease of AP and dP/dt of LVP, and slowing of HR, but no significant alternation in contractility and pump function of the heart as shown by V and CI, respectively. As a result of heart slowing and LVP reduction, LVWI and tension-time index were reduced, which suggest that the myocardial 0 consumption is declined.
After iv ginsenosides, in contrast with the decrease of femoral and vertebral vascular resistance heightened renal vascular resistance resulted from reduction of renal blood flow was recorded by an electromagnetic flowmeter. The renal blood flow was also reduced remarkably by iv ginsenosides 10 mg/kg or intra-vertebral artery 2.7 mg/kg, without affecting AP and CO simultaneously. The renal vascular constricting action of ginsenosides was not nullified by eitherα-receptor blockade (iv phentolamine 1 mg/kg)or 5-HT-receptor blockade (cyproheptadine 1 mg/kg). TPVR was essentially unaltered.},
