abstract = {Antimony nitrilotriacetic acid (Sb-71) has been found to possess antitumor activity. In the present paper the metabolism of Sb-71 was investigated by using the 14C-labeled compound.
Sb and nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA) were estimated by colorimetric and oscillopolarographic methods, respectively.
After ip injection of 30 mg/kg of [14C]Sb-71 (105 microCi/mmol) to mice bearing Ehrlich ascites carcinoma higher radioactivity was found in the kidney, and lower in lung, intestines, liver, and spleen. The radioactivity in the ascetic fluid was much higher than that in the tumor cells. On the contrary, the content of Sb was greater in the tumor cells than in the ascetic fluid.
About 34% of the radioactivity injected was excreted in the urine 6 h after ip, and 38% of total radioactivity after 24 h. NTA and Sb were excreted 34.4% and 12%, respectively, in the urine 6 h after ip.
The data indicate that after ip of Sb-71 the Sb and NTA moieties may be easily separated.},
