Graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Beijing Medical College at
1961. Has been working in Department of Pharmacology,
Beijing Medical University since 1961. Advanced learning
in Program in Collaborative Research in the Pharmaceutical
Sciences (PCRPS), University of Illinois at Chicago,
U.S.A. from 1983 to 1984. He was Vice Director of Research
Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Beijing Medical
University from 1985 to 1989, and Vice Dean, School of
Basic Medical Sciences and Director, Research Institute of
Basic Medical Sciences, Beijing Medical University
from1992 to1993, and Chairman of Department of
Pharmacology, Beijing Medical University from1986 to1995.
He also was Vice President of Beijing Medical University
from 1993 to 1997. Currently as a Professor of
Pharmacology and Chairman of Research and Development
Center for New Drug, Beijing Medical University. Editor in
Chief, Journal of Beijing Medical University. He also has
lot of social and scientific position, including Member,
National Committee of Specialists for New Drug Research
and Development; Member of National Drug Evaluation
Committee; Member of National Pharmacopoeia Committee;
Member of Specialist Group, Committee of Ministry of
Public Health for Continuing Education; Vice President and

Has
long been majoring research for pharmacological effect and
action mechanism of antiinflammatory drugs,
immunomodulating drugs, endocrine drugs and antitumor
drugs, also take part in the research and development for
new drugs. Recent years he has investigated
immunomodulating effect and its mechanism of Ganoderma
lucidum,a traditional Chinese herb, and its active
component with modern technological methods. For the first
time this research revealed that the immunopotentiating
effect of Ganoderma polysaccharides related to increasing DNA synthesis of
lymphocytes. Forther result indicated that this effect
related to increasing DNA polymerase-a activity and
promoting cytokins such as TNFa, IL-2, IL-6 mRNA
expression and production. Recent study demonstrated that Ganoderma polysaccharides can activate macrophages and lymphocytes,
promote TNFa, INFg mRNA expression and production and
consequently induce apoptosis of tumor cells. Research on Ganoderma polysaccharides received the Second Class Award of Science
and Technology Achievement from the State Education Commission(First Awardee) and Third
Class Award of Science and Technology Achievement from the
State Education Commission(Fourth Awardee).In addition he
has investigated
the pharmacology of bee products such as royal jelly, bee
pollen and propolis since 1961. For this reason he was
President of the Standing Committee on Apitherapy,
International Federation of Beekeepers‘ Associations(APIMONDIA) from 1993 to 1997. The research on
Beijing Royal jelly received Second Class Award of Science
and Technology Achievement from Beijing Government.
Recently has organized and studied a series of new drugs
such as immunosuppressive drugs, antiinflammatory drugs,
antidiabetic, drugs and antitumor drugs, etc.
Editors
chief for the monograph of “Pharmacological Basis in
Medicine”, “Textbook of Pharmacological Experiment”,
“Modern Research on Ganoderma”,
etc. Over 100 scientific papers have been published. Has
been engaged as a doctoral supervisor since 1990 and
supervised 10 PhD candidates, 6 master candidates and 2
post-doctors, is now supervising 5 PhD and 3 master
students.
Has
received the Government Special Allowance for Outstanding
Achievement since 1992.Conferred the title “Specialist
of Young and Middle Age for Outstanding Achievement” by
Ministry of Public Health at 1994.
